There are a lot of porcelain or ceramic tiles available in every

imaginable color and they require less maintenance and many look very much
like real stone, additionally they will have coordinated accent pieces and
trim that really make the installation special

If you are going to use a tile, use a ceramic tile. It can be

found in many colors & an patterns that resemble stone. It is not porous

but the grout needs to be kept sealed.

From a practical standpoint, cultured marble makes the best choice. It is

attractive but impervious to mold & mildew. It is easy to clean & comes in
very large sheets so there are few seams.

It doesn't look as upscale as granite or stone but I would not every use
anything else. There is no grout to seal & keep free of mold & mildew.

We have granite counter tops in our master bath but the shower stall is
all cultured marble & glass. A breeze to keep clean.
